Back to an Italian review from Silent Scream webzine.

Good to know that an heavy metal band like we are is appreciated in our country, too!

Obviously nobody is completely original, apart from those who engage in bizarre artistic experiments, and we are not an exception. We want to give our personal view and sound on the issues we deal with. We have some peculiarities as the choirs or melodic voices but, believe me, we’re thinking to work for the opener with some black metal riffs. That’s because of the lyrics or the theme we want to develop. There are some boundaries but we can manipulate the rules with the right knowledge of the facts. Future is Tomorrow, like the other bands in the genre, are an heavy metal band but first of all play music! And to play music means to write good songs for the listeners. It’s usually simple in theory, quite difficult in practice.

If someone had asked me before to record “Fit to Die” what would have been my favourite song, I think I’d never answered “The day of retribution”. Eleven minutes long. I like shorter songs.

But that track contains all the things, tricks, feelings and more that Future is Tomorrow was able to do in that moment. Now it’s time to raise the bar. For us and for who wants to hear a great product.

The quality is the key: a big production and good songs with groove and melody must be the business card of an artist. Then there are the listeners, you can not please everyone but you can take your own space through thousand of musical suggestions.

Oh, please, don’t forget to buy the CD or the songs on the web of the bands you think are worthy to be supported. We need money to continue to compose, record and improve our art.

Cheers.

Grave

So, what can I say… I love french people, especially the ones who spend kind words for the drummer of an heavy metal band called future is Tomorrow. Thanks to Le Chant du Grillon and to Jean!!

I noticed the reviewer prefer the power metal songs to the mid-paced one’s. Ehy Gad, I wrote in a previous comment you should not write power metal songs anymore. I grant you one, maybe. [note by Gad: we'll see... :P]

A few of months ago I went to Symphony X‘s concert in Florence. They made a couple of songs from the upcoming album “Iconoclast” and I said to Gad:”Hey, they stole our riff:)”. Yeah, it was nice to hear the same sensation from what we’re composing and what that incredible band was playing. I clear a thing, it has never been my intention to compare F.I.T. to Symphony X!!

When we’ll be able to reach a top 10 heavy metal song as Paradise Lost, Divine wings of Tragedy or Inferno perhaps I will say we’re better than..uhm..Dream Theater .

I’m surely joking but at the same time I think that with a lot of hard work and continuous improvement we can have our satisfactions, and hope the listeners will have them, too.

“Fit to Die” was a good beginng and a great challenge: the partecipation of the choir and the addition of tons of synthesizers to the songs has not been easy to arrange. Now we want to do better: I still have not heard what kind of orchestral parts there will be on the next album but I’m already excited to listen how heavy are these new metal songs!!

And remember my friends, keep listening to heavy metal, spread it’s word and follow the new bands!!

Bye

Hi everyone, let’s talk about what’s heavy! Metal is heavy and heavy metal songs should be heavy!!

I want to tell something to Fred from Teeth of the Divine webzine: the next CD will be heavier than what you would expect from Future is Tomorrow! Some good heavy songs …with a ballad…:) This one is for metalheads who have a heart despite of the lyrics of the song which are very strong. The feeling reminds me to “The bard’s song” of Blind Guardian although it is quite different. Maybe I’m crazy.

The reviewer felt Rush on the title track: believe me, I’d never thought to be compared to this band on a F.I.T. song. A great compliment in my opinion!!

The title track is a bit different from the other songs because is a composition started from Pablic: he has the particular gift to write 7/4 riff and make them sound like a 4/4. And it becomes very easy to me to play:) So Gad, stop listening to Shadow Gallery or other complicated progressive bands.

In “Fit to Die” there is not a true ballad, but the song that comes closest, to me, is “Stories to Tell” . Maybe the best composition of the album: there are a couple of songs that I prefer but “Stories to Tell” has a lot of dynamics and a great feeling. Max did a very good job!

(I made a base drum mistake but don’t tell it around….).

What can I say more: keep supporting heavy metal, independent music and, obviously, Future Is Tomorrow. And I’m expecting that our ballad will touch your hearts and reach the top 10 of the greatest heavy metal songs:):)….

Bye

Thanks Maik from NeckBreaker.de Webzine for the good review!!

I promise, soon we will post the lyrics on our official site. The fact was that we didn’t have enough room in the booklet and we decided to post only the latin spoken.

Anyway my inspiration about the words of the album came from two great bands: Death and Savatage. Even if I don’t listen to much death metal or bands with screaming/growling voices, I always found very interesting Chuck Schuldiner‘s lyrics.

Especially those from Symbolic album: so criptic and at the same time vivid! Through the words I’ve been able to value Chuck’s way of singing. IMHO Death is one of the greatest metal band ever existed because of the incredible feeling coming from the union of music and words.

Savatage are one of the most underrated metal bands. I believe they wrote a lot of beautiful tunes: I wrote the words for two of the eight songs of the new album and my mind immediately went to one of Savatage’s best CD, “Dead Winter Dead”.

They use simple sentences that have a strong emotional charge!

Usually many bands start to write songs from a guitar riff: Gad waits for the lyrics to have the whole idea of how the song should play. The most complex part in the drafting of a heavy metal song with a text of a certain depth, is to be able to maintain the interest and intensity in music; and the singer has a great responsability because it is necessary not only a good technique but even excellent interpretation. He is the balance between a good song and a great heavy metal song!!

Bye

Grave

I hope that Future Is Tomorrow don’t get labeled as just another power metal band, because they deserve much more and I expect bigger things from this band in the future. Well done. [Kelley Simms ].

Wow, how can I not smile in front of this sentence? Thanks to Kelley from Metal-Mayhem webzine.

The production of the album is clean but not so big compared to others: I think it came out a sort of balance between the power of music and the need to have a clear sound for all the instruments.

But, we’re an heavy metal band and believe me, the songs for the next CD will be more heavy and powerful. As usual there will be a lot of melody and the presence of orchestral parts, this time quite different from “Fit to die”. Pablic and I wrote the lyrics (Pablic for 6 songs, I wrote the title track and the 4th song of the Album) and I was expecting a power metal CD :). Surprise! Gad and Pablic came out with some granitic riffs for new amazing heavy metal songs! So, I’m very happy to have not to use the double base as an helicopter. :):)

[Note by Gad: Fool, the composition is not yet over!!! muahahahah! :D]

We’re still working on the opener “Handful of Dust” and the idea is to have a beginning with blast beat..Yeah, we’re power metal.

Anyway, if Kelley expects bigger things from us, we’re working to make this real: the new album will have a bigger production and we’re surely more experienced than when we recorded “Fit to Die”.

There will be eight new metal songs with an Overture (we found a title but I can’t remember it…) and an ending called “Stelutis Alpinis”:written in Friulian, it’s one of the most famous choral pieces of the Italian tradition, composed by Arturo Zardini [ http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arturo_Zardini_%28compositore%29 ].

We have still so much to do but I think that we are on the right way to make another great CD and I hope there will be more people who can listen to it! Stay tuned!

Hola amigos, finally I found it, the review from The Pit.de: we are one of the heaviest boy metal band!!!

Yes, this is the sentence because if we had to talk about a social analysis of death in modern society the sound should be dark and depressing. If you are not as written before, you are catchy, so you can’t play heavy metal songs.

I think that the focus could be in the word “expectations”: the concept is death, the setting a funeral and the main carachter is dead. This brings someone’s mind to think that the sound has to be death metal or even doom metal. Why? Expectations about personal tastes.

Very interesting, maybe one day I will write a concept on “Social analysis on the perception of reality”. Someone sees the front cover of the booklet, reads the main concept and then after the listening of the CD says:”Fuck, crappy power metal, melodic voices and catchy solos!!”An Album with those premises should not play like this. Yeah, perhaps. Or maybe not.

It ‘obvious that we can not please everyone and my opinion doesn’t want to be in any way a criticism of the review. In fact, I was amused. I took inspiration from it to give an idea of how generally we perceive many issues: are there other ways to communicate the same thing differently from how we perceive them? Yes, sure. Can we really see them? Very interesting, it’s easier to say this that to make it in practice.

Ok, I should talk about a review about an heavy metal band who plays heavy metal songs doing it in a power-prog way.

Now I’m thinking what could be the expectations about the sound of the new album: it’s about war, “Just war”. We won’t write death metal songs…maybe. But I can say it will be less power metal than “Fit to Die” from what I hear. Well, Gad can decide to write the last three pieces in an Avantasia‘s mood. I will kill him, indeed!

Before I started to write a comment to Rocktimes review, I was thinking for what reason the Italian heavy metal music fails to gain a foothold. There are very valid bands with good musicians: I listened to Pathosray, Slowmotion Apocalypse, Tystnaden and many other’s albums and, apart from the question of musical taste, they are all good. But, after a promising start, most of them suffer from line-up changes , lack of confidence in what they do, complain about lack of places to play and gradually end up in oblivion. It’s a real shame!

Every heavy metal band know that nowadays you have to pay to record a CD and to do a decent tour. Quite depressing actually! But sometimes I feel that, instead of finding alternative routes and arm themselves with patience, bands tend to wait for luck or talent scouts, who magically come to a concert and are impressed by their sound. Well, now as the first hour, your music is good if it sells. Iron Maiden, even though they were certainly different times, filled bars and clubs. I would say it is automatic that a manager and a record company were suddenly interested.

Someone could laugh when we say that Future is Tomorrow wants to be independent: well, at the same time I don’t live hoping that a great label tomorrow will give us a deal. What to do? To wait? No, we try to sell our music through other channels. They are under our eyes, the Internet is a large container and the same record companies know that CDs do not sell anymore because of the download. No one says it’s easy, especially if you do it alone. But now that we have the tools, why are we so lazy to not want to use them with some consistency? The results certainly do not come in a few months, it takes dedication. We don’t think the reach the Top 10 heavy metal songs chart, maybe not even the top 100 heavy metal songs chart.

Whitin twenty years I’d like to look back and say I’ve done a good job, I enjoyed it, I played some good heavy metal songs and someone liked my albums. And maybe, working hardly, I can have some luck! Don’t misundertand me, I’m ambitious but with the idea that I have always to improve my skills, to learn from everyone is good and to believe in what I’m doing.
Haven’t I said you that soon we will have a new album?!!

Cheers

A Spanish review from Rockinspain.es.

I remember we’ve been in Barcelona in 2007 and we played a couple of gigs with a local band called Criterium. Nice guys and we had good vibes during our stay.

I noticed that Spanish people love Heavy Metal, especially power metal. We are not one of those heavy bands who play like Helloween or Gamma Ray: we prefer mid-tempos or sometimes to accelerate with thrashy styles parts… A good example of mid-paced song is “Awakening the Ghosts”.

The song starts with a solid and granitic riff in Gad style, then flows to a nice melodic theme which introduces the first verse. To me the most interesting part is the middle of the song: dynamics go down and then there’s an ascending climax ’till the synthesizer explodes with its big sound.

I like to play that drum part because it has much groove to give and it’s not properly “Heavy Metal”:) I took the pattern from a funky exercise I usually do and modified it.

Listening to the song you can also hear some death metal backgroud vocals performed by “Ciardo”, singer of the death metal band Delirium X tremens.

Nice guy with an incredibly powerful voice!! Oh, don’t forget to listen to Delirium X tremens new Album: it’s a concept about stories on Belluno (Belo Dunum) and his landscapes. It’s very interesting, it took them 2 years to write it and it is pure heavy death metal music!!! They are so passionate about music and they have all our support!!

So, what can I say more? Remember that Future is Tomorrow are going to make a new Album, too: the title is yet to be decided, we’re arguing about “De Iure Belli” or “Jus ad Bellum”.

I can not wait to record them and play them live! Stay tuned!

Well well, here we are again with another great review!

Metalbite rated us 9.7!!!!

I’m glad the reviewer liked the cd but I’m even more happy that he has appreciated the concept. Yes, that’s because I wrote the lyrics! :):)

I can’t say if “Fit to Die” is an Album “to live”, anyway it’s a great compliment.

I can say I’m proud of what we did and I think it’s a good heavy metal Album.

Ok, let’s talk about the song number two: “Another Soul”.

As told in another comment, we were worried about the final result: during the reharsals there was something not convincing. Then, listening the mixing we’ve been surprised that the mood of the tune totally changed with the right arrangements:)

I tell you, it’s a great heavy metal song with nice power-prog parts, a thrashy verse and a very catchy refrain. It has many drums tempo changes but it’s very relaxing to play when the chorus opens. There’s also a fantastic melodic solo (I think Pablic did it…), probably my favourite of the entire Album.

I believe “Another Soul” is one of the best heavy metal song Gad had ever made because it contains in six minutes the essence of Future is Tomorrow music of that moment (The other one is “The Day of Retribution” but it’s 11 minutes long..:) ).

It would be cool to see one day one of our song in the Top 100 chart of the heavy metal music.. well, just dreaming. By now our job is to write good heavy metal songs and improve our songwriting album after album.

Horns up!

Grave

It’s pure heavy metal music!! And we need money to do the next Album!!

Ok, I’ll stop with my promotional campaign.

The reviewer of Metalwave is right: there aren’t the lyrics into the booklet. There was not enough room but very soon we will post all the story.

So, let’s talk about “Dead” lyrics.

It’s the first song of the album and it is the main character who is speaking.

His body his in the coffin but his consciousness, ego, spirit or whatever we want to call it, is on a sort of limbo.

He feels no emotions and calmly points out that they were a burden, both good and bad… Now he found a peace without thoughts. I did not want to talk about soul, spirit or something like that. My intention was to let the protagonist feel the pure essence of the “I am”, against the “me” with thoughts and perceptions. If he was still alive he would be able to see reality for what it is. At the same time I didn’t wanted to speak about “another world as if it was the Heaven”. Well, in few words, the main carachter is between the earth and the universe, infact he feels no emotions but he has still remembrance of his life on earth.

He can see what happens during his funeral, he hears what the partecipants say, he perceives their thoughts: from this point the story unravels through the involvement of different participants, showing the several feelings during the event of the death of a human being. I did not want to name the main character because it was not essential. I could call it the “Nameless one”, but I preferred “dead” because that is his current state. His body is dead but its essence is not transcended. It’s like a door between the two different worlds.
I think “Dead” is a good metal song, a strong and fast beginning for an Album. Many metal bands start their CD with a powerful song, maybe one day we will do like Opeth and we’ll begin the album with a song like “Coil” or “Windowpane” (to me one of the greatest opening songs).

This is all by now!

Cheers
